I have always wondered as to what really made Akkamma great. May be the answer lies in the fact that whatever she did, came straight from her heart. She was so practical in her approach. She cared for her children even more than for God or the heaven. Her greatest achievement is bringing up the family to its present happy stage and keeping the family together.

But she was special most of all, because she had the vision and the power to hold such a spread out and big family together - see - she is doing it even today!

Dear mother’s personality was of test standard. She would be ordinary in Ranji troophy matches., but would reach the peak and( perform ) exemplary in test matches. She knew meaning of help –- What others need! Her target very clear --- To bind children together to make them stronger than ever. She added her love and gave back to children what they gave her.

Discrimination was just an illusion. Akkamma was A first and A last.

The ones that touched my heart include her approach to life in general,

very pragmatic and rich in culture and tradition. Her words blessing us

all still is clear and profound ... "Bhaare Engineer/Doctor Aagappa..."

Akkamma was always ahead of her time, may be managing such a large family

made her strong and think ahead. Her views and opinions were always matched

her actions. She always taught us that there is strength in unity and

spoke of one family one culture and to love and respect each other

We will for ever miss Akkamma, but I believe there is some Akkamma in all

of us as her influence has been so profound in making of our lives.

Writing very few lines on what I liked best about

Akkamma is not simple. There are so many things, that I do not know how

to say it.She was an institution.She stood for all our family values.

She was traditional but at the same time modern.She was willing to

accept the changes that were happening around her.My best memories of

her were at the time of my wedding. She was so happy, enthusiastic and

full of energy. I saw her on the day I left to U.S ( may 27,'96) I never

thought that it would be the last time that I would see her.Ofcourse I

will always remember the toffees & raisins that would appear magically

from the "baalekaayi".It never caesed to amaze me.I miss her.98,Bull
