Culture
The current fortnight, that is the one coming just before the start of Dassara is known as the Pitru Paksha (Paksha means a fortnight in sanskrit) This is the fortnight dedicated to remembering with gratitude our ancestors who are no more. The new moon day at the end of the fortnight is termed Mahalaya Amavasya the day you remember with gratidute and offer tharpanas to all the ancestors who are no more.
