On the occasion of the first death Aniversary of Akkamma Her kith and kin were asked to write a few words about her or any thing else they like to say on the occasion. Here is what they have written, as written, unedited.

I am yet to see a large HEARTED person as Akkamma.

Ramachandra Rao.& Subhadramma

Always concerned with everybodys well being.

Knowledgable and cultured.

Keen on knowing things and people around.

Above all in courage.

Most affectionate and versatile.

Model as Mother, Mother in law, Grandma, and Great Grandma. That was,

Akkamma for everyone.

Dr Prakash

Akkamma was a very great lady with all the good qualities, Very very affectionate with every one. I am very proud to be her grand daughter.

 Dr Uma

It is not possible to fill up the gap that has been caused by the death of dear Akkamma who was loved by one and all. Her hospitality extended to all, whether friends or relatives is worth remembering.

A force, which kept the family, united by seeing always that no one felt bad

Leelamma

What I liked most in Akkamma is the affection she showed on everybody. The hug she gave when we took her leave, I also admire her remarkable memory.

Lavanya

What I liked most in Akkamma is the affection and love she had for all of her kith and kin and the manner in which she would keep track of all our academics and other activities.

 Pavan

For the zest for life; her keen interest in everybody and everything. I admire her progressive ideas.

Spoorthy

She was very kind and generous. She loved children. Never scolded anyone.

Sanjeev

Whenever I visited her she used to give me money.

Sughosh

Yara manassigu bejaragada hage maneyavarannella oggattagi ittidda shakti

Indramma

Magnanimous in adapting to changed odd circumstances

Vittal

(Engal mamiyar embavar petredutha thayar ponre gunam padaithavar. Idupol mamiyar ellorukume kidaipadu aridu. Jenma jenmathirkum inda perum gunam padaitha mamiyare kidaika vendumenru iraivane prarthikiren,)

Sudha Vittal

English translation of the above tamil statement

My mother in law had the qualities of my own mother, It is difficult for every one to get a mother inlay like this. I pray god that in birth after birth, that I should get this mother in law with great qualities.

Sudha Vittal

I have always wondered as to what really made Akkamma great. May be the answer lies in the fact that whatever she did, came straight from her heart. She was so practical in her approach. She cared for her children even more than for God or the heaven. Her greatest achievement is bringing up the family to its present happy stage and keeping the family together.

Raghu

She was loved by one and all. Made fiends with everyone very soon.

Suma

appa has given us a really tough task - to write what all we like about Akkamma in as few lines as possible....

Well, what can I say. Akkamma was special because she was Akkamma, our grandmother. She was also special because she did the grandmotherly things damn well ....if you know what I mean- pampering and all that.

But she was special most of all, because she had the vision and the power to hold such a spread out and big family together - see - she is doing it even today!

Bindu

Dear motherís personality was of test standard. She would be ordinary in Ranji troophy matches., but would reach the peak and( perform ) exemplary in test matches. She knew meaning of help Ė- What others need! Her target very clear --- To bind children together to make them stronger than ever. She added her love and gave back to children what they gave her.

Discrimination was just an illusion. Akkamma was A first and A last.

- Vani Vijayendra Rao

Few lines might just not be enough to tell all I liked about Akkamma

The ones that touched my heart include her approach to life in general,

very pragmatic and rich in culture and tradition. Her words blessing us

all still is clear and profound ... "Bhaare Engineer/Doctor Aagappa..."

Akkamma was always ahead of her time, may be managing such a large family

made her strong and think ahead. Her views and opinions were always matched

her actions. She always taught us that there is strength in unity and

spoke of one family one culture and to love and respect each other

We will for ever miss Akkamma, but I believe there is some Akkamma in all

of us as her influence has been so profound in making of our lives.

Bheemesh

HAVING ALL THE GOOD QUALITIES ONE WOULD WANT IN A GRANDMOTHER...HER WARM

HUG EACH TIME WE SAW HER...HER DESIRE THAT WE ALL SHOULD HAVE THE BEST

OF EVERYTHING IN LIFE...CLOTHES, FOOD, COMFORTS, JEWELLERY, AND ALSO OUR

LIFE PARTNER...HER CONFIDENCE IN OUR KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO SUCCEED IN

LIFE... HER MAGNETIC TOUCH EVERY TIME SHE BLESSED US! SHE WAS SO MUCH

LIKED BY EVERYONE WHO KNEW HER. WHAT TOUCHED ME THE MOST WAS THE MUTUAL

AFFECTION BETWEEN HER AND MY SPOUSE MADHU. I CAN NEVER FORGET THE DAY I

WAS LEAVING B.T. TO GO TO THE U.S. LOOKING AT HER BROUGHT TEARS IN MY

EYES AS I FELT INTUITIVELY THAT THIS WOULD BE THE LAST TIME I WOULD SEE

HER. I HAD NEVER FELT SO SAD BEING SEPERATED FROM ANYONE ELSE.

BUT IT IS HER CHEERFUL FACE THAT I ALWAYS REMEMBER!

A fountain of love. She received the problems of all and gave back support and affection.

Pranesh.

A mother par excellence, she made every member of the family feel she specially thought and prayed for him\her.

Laksmi Pranesh

To me Akkamma was a wonderful grandmother. I think of her everytime

I do anything big - get my MS degree, get into a job, get a publication

etc. I still see her wish me good luck, and still hear her say "Devaru

olledhu madali".

Babu

When ever I went to B.T road she will be moving all around me and that I liked most. That is what I miss now

Mala

Writing very few lines on what I liked best about

Akkamma is not simple. There are so many things, that I do not know how

to say it.She was an institution. She stood for all our family values.

She was traditional but at the same time modern. She was willing to

accept the changes that were happening around her.My best memories of

her were at the time of my wedding. She was so happy, enthusiastic and

full of energy. I saw her on the day I left to U.S ( may 27,'96) I never

thought that it would be the last time that I would see her.Ofcourse I

will always remember the toffees & raisins that would appear magically

from the "baalekaayi".It never caesed to amaze me.I miss her.98,Bull

Temple

is never the same without her.

Alaka.

" Alaka enu neeru kudidahaagey pareekshey pass madi bidtaley". This is

what I remember last of her before I left.

Guru.(Guru datt)

Akkamma was kind, sweet, and large harted person. She loved every one.Any one who knew her would love her.She had long blessings for everyone.

Sayings from Sundru Mama's family:

The Good that Motherís do

lives after them ,through their

children and grandchildren.

So be it with AKKAMMA

SUNDRU MAVA.

AKKAMMA more a mother

to me than my sister-in-law.

FOREIGN VAINI.(RADHA)

I remember , I remember

The house where I was sheltered

by motherly AKKAMMA,

The window where the sun

came peeping in at the morn;

He never came a wink too soon,

nor brought too long a day,

So was it , AKKAMMA with

similar blessings to all,

but now , I often wish the night

had borne my breath away!
